Melissa Grippi
Melissa first started styling when she was an Art Major at the University of Delaware as a photographer, where she would do hair and makeup for her models. She later attended Capri Cosmetology and spent 10 years working at Avante Salon on the Rondout before taking over the business and opening Oak Hair Studio with her business partner.
She not only enjoys the creativity that styling brings but also the act of providing a self care service for her clients. She believes that being a hairdresser is much deeper than how you make people look, it’s about how you can make people feel. When not playing the part of hairstylist Melissa is also an artist, gardener and dancer.
Christine Knapp-Gagnon
Christine has been a stylist in the Hudson Valley since 2009. During that time, her work has been seen in Ulster Publishing Magazine and Edible Hudson Valley-Weddings as well as being voted Hudson Valley Magazine’s Best of HV 2018-Best Stylist award. In March 2021, she opened Oak Hair Studio with business partner, Melissa Grippi.
In the salon, Christine is very passionate about her client consult. Her warm way of questioning and analyzing leaves you with a confirmed end goal that is clear. Drawing inspiration from nature, her creations are smooth, textured and full of movement, colors ranging from natural to rainbow and all finished with lived-in style. Outside of the salon, Christine loves adventuring with her wife and daughter spending time enjoying and exploring the outdoors andcsmall towns of the Hudson Valley.
